Creativity and Emerging Technologies

1. Study goal:
This questionnaire explores how individuals who engage in creative work - either professionally or as a hobby view emerging technologies in their creative practice

 

2. Procedure:
You will be asked questions about your professional background and your use of technologies in your creative work. There are no right or wrong answers—we are interested in your experience and opinion. The survey will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

 

3. Data collection:
Your responses will be processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This survey is anonymous, and no identifying data will be collected. As a result, once you submit the survey, it will not be possible to access, rectify, or delete your responses. You also have an optional opportunity to enter a raffle to win one of the two €35 GoGift cards.  If you choose to participate in the raffle and win, your email will be used for contacting you—it will not be linked to your survey responses.

 

4. Your rights:
Your participation in this study is voluntary. You may choose to withdraw at any time before submitting the survey, without providing a reason and without any negative consequences.

As part of the Research Project entitled “The Role of Emerging Technologies in Creativity”, personal data will be collected and processed in order to collect your ethical consent for your participation to the Research Project.

What data do we collect and process?

Personal information such as first and last name will be collected as part of the ethical consent. Moreover, email address will be collected via the survey to allow for follow-up contacts and/or to allow your participation to the raffle so to compensate your participation if you provide your consent to these uses.

Please note that we will not collect any further personal data about you, and we will ensure your participation and contribution to the Research is anonymous and there is no means to identify you. Your replies to the survey will be separated from your identification data and it will not be possible to identify you via your replies to the survey.

We collect personal data directly from you via the survey when you agree to participate in our Research Project and when you agree to provide your contact details for follow-up contacts and/or for your participation to the raffle.

All necessary procedures and precautions will be taken to maintain the confidentiality of research participants.

Why do we collect and use your personal data?

We collect your personal data solely in order to gather your ethical consent for your participation in the Research Project. Your contact details are collected, upon your consent, to allow for follow-up contacts and/or for your participation to the raffle so to compensate your participation to the Project.

No further personal data will be collected about you.

We will ensure that any further information collected such as your replies to the survey does not allow to identify you and thus that your contribution to the Research Project is anonymous.

What is our legal basis for processing the data?

Your personal data relating to the Research Project will be processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Luxembourg Act of 1 August 2018 on Data Protection. The legal basis for the processing of your personal data in the context of the Research Project is laid down in Article 6 (1) GDPR:

  1. the data subject has given consent to the processing of his or her personal data for one or more specific purposes; you provided your consent, via a dedicated consent boxes included in the survey, to the collection and processing of your contact details to allow for follow-up contacts and/or to allow your participation to the raffle;
  2. processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the controller or by a third party; in particular the collection of your identification data as part of the ethical consent is based on the legitimate interest of the University to ensure that the Research Project is performed in accordance with ethical standards.

Who is responsible for the processing of my personal data?

The Data Controller in respect of the processing of your data is the University of Luxembourg, a public institution for higher education and research, whose registered office is at 2 place de l’Université, L-4365 Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg, acting for the Department of Education and Social Work in the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education.

How do we protect your personal data?

To protect the confidentiality of your data, we will ensure that your participation and contribution to the Research Project is anonymous and that the only personal data about you is the data collected via the consent form as well as your contact details if you consent to their collection to allow for follow up contact and/or for your participation to the raffle. No further information collected in the course of your participation will allow your identification. Your replies to the survey will be separated from your identification data, hence it will not be possible to identify you via your replies to the survey.

How long is your personal data stored for?

Your personal data will be stored on University OneDrive and in the servers of the University for a duration of 5 years after the collection of the data.

Who can access or see your personal data?

The recipients of your personal data are the members of the research team of the University involved in this Research Project. Microsoft OneDrive will be used for the storage of your identification data. This signifies that your personal data will be also processed and accessed by Microsoft, as our processor.

Do we transfer data outside the European Union?

The use of Microsoft OneDrive for the storage of your identification data may entail transfer of or access to your personal data outside the European Union. The University will take appropriate measures to guarantee the protection of your personal data by including standard contractual clauses on data protection in its contract with Microsoft.

What are your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation?

You will have the right to access and rectify your personal data. In certain cases (in accordance with the conditions set out by the GDPR, you will also have the right to object to the way in which your data is used, to request that your data be deleted, to ask to restrict certain aspects of the processing of your data and to retrieve your data to forward it to a third party (right to data portability). You also have the right to withdraw your consent to the use of your contact details for follow up contact and/or to your participation to the raffle at any time. In this case, you contact details will be deleted.

If you wish to exercise your rights, you should contact the principal investigator, Anastasia T.Vanden Berghe or her designated representative. She will liaise with the University of Luxembourg’s Data Protection Officer to handle your request.
